We had our first Thanksgiving dinner that we prepared at home together. It was a bit of an adventure, because we were attempting gravy from scratch along with all the other standard dishes. We had the good fortune the week before T-Day to get a glimpse into the Allium's kitchen (Allium is our favorite Fairford restaurant), and we learned how to make a lovely gravy and tasty vegetables for our dinner. It all turned out pretty well, but gravy attempts since the first one have improved significantly!
November was a bit of a recovery period, as we have traveled quite a bit this year, but as soon as December hit, Kristine was off on a trip to the German Christmas markets to work on the shopping lists. Jason had to stay at home and work, but its just as well, since he would have been distracting from the very important mission! We stayed at the US bases in Germany to cut down on costs, and it really is startling to see how huge they are in comparison to Fairford. Honestly, the base in Ramstein is larger than a good proportion of American towns! And I can't tell you how happy I was to see a Chili's (margaritas!) after the epic 14 hour drive on the way down. There was even a mall on the base - not like a really great mall, but a mall nonetheless! It was a lovely trip once we finally got there, and I did make a significant dent in the Christmas shopping!
Christmas this year will be in Texas, which is wonderful in that we get to see Uncle Rudi and Aunt Carolyn, and the whole Rupp family. Kristine also gets to visit her dearest friends from college for a girls night! And maybe, just maybe, we'll get a little sunshine on our pale English skin!
We hope you all have an amazing holiday, with lots of great food, big laughs, touching traditions and an overflow of love. As the English say, Cheers!!

It was great to see you! I enjoyed the girls night. It will be nice when you are at least on the same continent.
Safe travels!
